The use of bowed rollers (banana rollers, spreader rollers) minimizes the formation of wrinkles / creases during the rewinding process.

Bowed rollers are used in many production processes related to material rewinding. These processes include rewinding, cutting to narrower webs, printing, lamination, perforation, and more. All these processes require that the material web being processed is free from wrinkles and creases, as these defects adversely affect the quality of the finished product. For this purpose, we use bowed rollers, which are perfectly suitable for working with materials such as foil, paper, laminated materials, textiles, and others.”
The principle of operation of a bowed roller is based on its curved surface design, which enables the straightening, or smoothing, of material folds and wrinkles.
Product data specification:
- The banana rollers we offer can range from 30cm to over 500cm in length;
- We provide proven solutions for the paper, foil processing, and food industries;
- The rollers can be seamlessly integrated into both new and existing machinery and production lines;
- Each solution is tailored to the unique operating conditions of the specific machine or production line.
Bowed rollers are coated with various rubber-based compounds that exhibit excellent mechanical properties and particularly high abrasion resistance. The coating for a banana roller is selected by us based on the type and weight of the material being rewound, e.g., EPDM rubber, Teflon, special coatings for the food industry, etc.
For materials that rapidly wear the rubber coating, we offer a solution with steel segments instead. This solution is particularly well-suited for the paper industry, which operates at high speeds and under high tension.
Each of our bowed rollers can be mounted in flange-mounted or foot-mounted supports. The supports are equipped with a worm gear for precise adjustment of the deflection angle position of the banana roller.
In the standard design of a banana roller, the deflection is from 1% to 1.4% of the ratio of the roller’s length to its diameter.
Banana rollers are also used in places where it is necessary to separate (spread apart) cut strips of material.

In a cutting process that does not involve alternating winding of the cut strips onto two expanding airshafts, an undesirable situation is when the subsequent strips overlap each other. Again, the solution is to use a bowed roller.
