Differential airshafts are designed for simultaneous winding of multiple rolls.

Without a differential airshaft, winding multiple rolls simultaneously can result in uneven tension. Some cores may be wound too tight while other show material slack. Different material diameters require varying torques for consistent tension. Our differential airshafts ensure the highest quality of wound material even with very narrow webs.
Ball friction rings enable the continuous sliding of carboard cores on the differential airshaft, ensuring consistent material tension. Friction rings and the cores mounted on them, slide continuously during the winding process. Each friction ring slides at a different speed, enabling consistent tension across all material webs, throughout the entire winding cycle.

To ensure correct operation of differential airshafts, unlike pneumatic shafts with strips or lugs, air with variable pressure must be fed continuously. Its value varies according to the diameter of the material being wound. Pressure is usually supplied to the shaft via rotary unit.
Differential airshafts can be used in machines fitted with web tension control systems.
